Naga Hex w/ XIM bridge

I set up the XIM bridge using the Belkin easy transfer cable, but I'm still not able to bind to any of the 6 side keys. I thought using the bridge would solve this. Am I missing a step or something?

Yes, they are recognized by my laptop PC. I even changed the buton settings on my mouse from macro to normal and still no luck.

so when they are recognized, everything should work fine
bind them in xemulate, ximbridge or ximcommander and it should work

I know what the XIM bridge is, but what exactly is xemulate and ximcommander? Are they already on the XIM3 like XIM manager? or do I need to download them?

you can only download them when being rc tester

I'm afraid I do not know enough about computers or programming to be an RC Tester.

Do you think the following might work? I'll switch the XIM bridge to my PC tower and Steel Series Merc Stealth. Then I'll bind the Xbox buttons to the Merc Stealth and then bind the Naga Hex side buttons to the Merc Stealth.

If that doen't work then it's back to the DeathAdder and wait until the Naga Hex has full support from XIM3.

XIMCommander uses DirectX's DirectInput which may not natively understand those extra buttons on your mouse. When you say they are recognized by your PC, what are you running that can see them?

Not running anything... just normal PC use... I've set a cut & paste macros to the side buttons, so I know the side buttons work. It's only when I game that I'm unable to bind to the side keys. I've tried remapping the top buttons to the side buttons, no luck. I've tried the XIM bridge and still no luck.

Ok, yes, if you are assigning buttons, that means you are using special Razer software to do it. When you installed the software, it installed hooks into the OS that enable it to read those special buttons from your mouse and map them other functions (like copy/paste). DirectInput (which XIMCommander uses) reads mouse input at a lower level (just like XIM3 does).

To verify, if you plug your Hex into another machine without the Razer software installed, do those buttons still perform those extra functions?

No they do not. I must first install Razer's Synapse 2.0 on each computer to perform those extra funtions. The Naga Hex has no on board memory so I have to use the Synapse 2.0 cloud.

Ok, that makes sense. The only options are we write a custom driver for this specific mouse for XIM3, or, someone out there writes a special app using the XIM3 SDK and targets that mouse specifically.

How easy/hard would that be? Wouldn't that app be fairly simlar to the original Naga app? What I'm thinking is to tweak the original Naga app to meet the requirements of the Naga Hex. I really wish I new how to write code.

Anyone out there up for the challenge of writing a custom driver or a special app for the Naga Hex?

I'm sure we will eventually get to it (i.e. write a custom driver), but, currently, we have higher priority tasks.

If this is something you want immediately, I do suggest finding a way to do it via the XIM SDK.

have you tried xemulate?
maybe it does work with it, and you can save on doing all the work
